Silence your Modem's dial-up Noise

 



When using a dial-up modem to connect to the Internet it makes noise that some people find annoying. If you want it to be silent follow these simple steps.

  1. In Windows 98 click Start, then Settings and then the Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Modem icon, then click the Properties button.
  3. Select the Connection tab in the window that appears, then click the Advanced button.
  4. Enter the text ATM0 in the 'Extra Settings' box, then click OK.
